What are the bingo numbers called?
Bingo numbers are called out by a caller, who draws numbers from a ball machine or bag. The caller then announces the number and its associated letter to the players.
The numbers on a bingo card are arranged in five columns and five rows. The columns are labeled B, I, N, G, and O from left to right. The center space in each column is usually left blank. The first column contains numbers 1 through 15, the second 16 through 30, the third 31 through 45, the fourth 46 through 60, and the fifth 61 through 75. In American bingo, the numbers in the first column are colored red, the second column numbers are colored green, the third column numbers are colored blue, the fourth column numbers are colored yellow, and the fifth column numbers are colored black.
Bingo numbers are called out in a set order, with the numbers in each column being called out before the numbers in the next column. For example, in a game of 75-number bingo, the caller might start by calling out "B-9," then "O-60," then "B-4," and so on.
Players mark the called numbers on their cards with chips, markers, or crayons. When a player has a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line of five numbers marked on their card, they shout "Bingo!" and win the game.
