What is a Parlay?
A parlay is a single bet that links together two or more individual wagers and is dependent on all of those wagers winning together.
In gambling, a parlay or accumulator is a single bet that links together two or more individual wagers and is dependent on all of those wagers winning together. The advantage of a parlay is that it offers a much higher potential payout than placing each individual bet separately, since the odds of all the bets succeeding are multiplied together. The downside is that all the bets in a parlay must win in order for the parlay to pay out, which makes them much riskier than individual bets.
Parlays are most commonly found in sports betting, where they are often used to link together bets on different games. For example, a gambler might place a $100 bet on the New England Patriots to win their game, and a $100 bet on the Los Angeles Lakers to win their game, for a total parlay bet of $200. If both the Patriots and the Lakers win their games, the gambler will win $300, for a return of $100 on their $200 bet. However, if either team loses, the entire bet is lost.
Parlays can also be found in horse racing, where they are known as "multiples". In horse racing, a multiple bet is simply a series of two or more bets, linked together by acommon factor such as the same horse being selected to win two or more different races. Again, all the bets in the multiple must win for the gambler to receive a payout, and the potential payouts are much higher than for individual bets.
Parlays are also sometimes offered in other forms of gambling, such as casino games. For example, some casinos offer "parlay blackjack" in which players can choose to make a series of blackjack bets instead of just one. If the player wins all of their blackjack bets, they will receive a higher payout than if they had just won a single bet. However, if they lose any of their blackjack bets, they will lose the entire amount wagered.
Parlays can be an exciting way to gamble, as they offer the potential for high payouts. However, they are also very risky, and should only be undertaken by experienced gamblers who are aware of the risks involved.
